Fire Protection Design/Consulting was started by Todd Williams in 1991 to provide primarily sprinkler design services to the fire protection community of southern New England. Since that time, we have expanded to include a wide variety of design, consulting and engineering services and have done projects throughout the eastern United States. We have completed over 850 projects in a wide variety of occupancies, from chemical plants to single family homes. This diverse experience gives us an excellent background to draw from to meet the challenges of your project.
A decision was made early on not to expand by hiring employees, but to develop a network of consultants that can be brought in on an as-need basis to address the unique challenges of each project. This allows us to build a team with the specific skills necessary to complete each job, often providing a level of expertise that cannot be found in companies restricted by the skills of their employee base. This also helps keep the overhead low, so our pricing can be competitive and you only pay for the expertise you actually use. We have also tried to be on the forefront of technology. All of our computerized sprinkler system designs have been done in 3-D format; first with FireAcad and more recently with Autosprink VR. Since buildings are built in three dimensions, it only makes sense that their designs be in 3-D as well. As the design world moves more toward 3-D, FPD/C is poised to become a part of that right away. We have also have the capacity to bring our design office to your site or office to facilitate design and review.
Todd Williams, founder and owner, has over 25 years in the fire protection industry, including time with Factory Mutual (now FM Global) as well as various design and contracting firms prior to starting on his own.
